An Introduction for Patients

Behind MoleMapCD technology

MoleMapCD technology is a Total Body Photography system. It was developed by DigitalDerm, Inc., in conjunction with the Duke University Comprehensive Cancer Center in Durham, N.C. MoleMapCD has been used by thousands of at-risk melanoma patients for more than a decade.

At-risk melanoma patients often experience multiple surgical biopsies, permanent scarring, and medical expenses. MoleMapCD technology is part of the solution to reducing unnecessary biopsies, scarring, expenses, and anxiety—and to increase early melanoma detection.

If you have ever examined your skin, you know how difficult it can be to spot changes, especially if you have many moles. It is normal to feel overwhelmed or helpless, but you do not have to feel this way. You do not have to rely only on your memory to identify skin changes.

MoleMapCD technology keeps you from guessing. It is a visual record of your skin, which you can use to check for changes that may indicate melanoma.

Melanoma is much less common than other skin cancers, but it is far more serious. Only one in 200,000 moles turns out to be melanoma. Patients can use MoleMapCD as a basis of comparison that is comprehensive, highly accurate and easy to use. It allows you to take charge of your skin health between scheduled doctor’s visits and can help you perform Skin Self-Examinations (SSE) at home.

MoleMapCD contains 36 high-resolution images of the patient’s skin from head to toe. It also includes speed-optimized viewing software that runs on any personal computer with a Windows 98SE or above operating system.

Melanoma is curable in its early stages. With the help of MoleMapCD, you can notify your physician at the earliest moment of this potentially life-threatening condition.
